DR. Ateeque Malani worked as a scientific officer at Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), currently working as a Assistant Professor at IIT Powai, 1st Rank Holder in University, 114th Rank holder in All India Gate Exam, studied in various Universities in USA.

Dr. Ateeque Malani was born in Yavatmal, Maharashtra and brought up in Vaniyambadi (Tamil Nadu), Chandrapur (Maharashtra) and Yavatmal (Maharashtra).

He completed his schooling in the Urdu medium from Khaderiya Primary School Vaniyambadi, Rafi Ahmed Quidwai Urdu High School Chandrapur and Zilla Parishad High School Yavatmal.
He finished his HSC in the year 1997 from Zilla Parishad Junior College, Yavatmal. In the year 1998, he enrolled in Amravati University to pursue Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) with a specialization in Chemical Engineering.

He secured the first rank in the university during IInd, IIIrd and IVth year and graduated with 76.2% in 2002. During this period, he received a scholarship from Memon Educational and Welfare Society, Mumbai.
He wanted to continue his education, so in the final year of his graduation, he appeared for GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering), an all India level scholarship exam for higher education in engineering field conducted by IITs and IISc Bangalore. He successfully cleared the GATE exam scoring 97.40 percentile with an all India rank of 114.

Due to his excellent performance in GATE, he received interview calls from IITs for Master of Technology (MTech) and Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Mumbai and other allied centers for a scientific officer. He cleared those interviews with flying colours and received a job offer from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) as a scientific officer.
He also secured admission in MTech program at IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi.
He joined IIT Bombay in 2002 and finished the MTech program with 9.3/10 grades and IIIrd rank in the class.
Later, he continued his education and joined IISc Bangalore in 2004 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical Engineering, where his research topic was water in various environments.
During PhD, he had the opportunity to visit the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), USA, as a visiting scholar to work on active research areas of water.

After finishing his PhD in 2009, he joined the University of Massachusetts (UMASS) Amherst, USA as a postdoctoral researcher and worked for a period of 1.5 years in the area of nanotechnology.
In the year 2010 he moved to Cambridge, USA, to work on polymers and membranes at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Currently, he is working as Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at IIT Bombay.

He has published around 20 papers in reputed international journals and presented his work at various international conferences.
His current research focuses on environmental and energy-related issues using the tools of multiscale modeling and nanotechnology.
